Welcome to BARI! The Bengali Association of Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts (BARI) is the oldest organization of Bengalees in Rhode Island. The word ‘bari’ means home in Bangla and this organization strives to be a home away from home for all its members. BARI is also deeply committed to fostering connections and building bridges between the Bengali community and the wider population of New England. By organizing cultural events like Durga Puja, Saraswati Puja, Bijoya and Poila Boishakh, BARI hopes to celebrate Bengali culture. Come join us in this celebration!

Member Spotlight: Kingshuk Bose
BARI’s second “member spotlight” features Dr. Kingshuk Bose. We know of Kingshuk in his role as BARI’s board member and also as BARI’s “photographer-in-residence”. Kingshuk has taken a leadership role in coordinating several of BARI’s intitiatives.

There you will learn about Kingshuk’s journey in his own words from his childhood days in Bengal to his current position as R&D Technology Director at Dassault Systemes. This journey includes his undergraduate training in mechanical engineering at IIT Kharagpur, a premier engineering institute in India, and a Ph.D. in non-linear fracture mechanics from UPenn.
You will meet his beautiful family, including his wife Minakshi and his two sons Shounak and Alok. His wife, Minakshi, is the current president of BARI.
No biography on Kingshuk would be complete without a mention of his avid interest and exceptional talent in photography. A curated set of his stunning masterpieces is also available there for you to enjoy.
